A house which is a balance between Character and Calm.
This renovation was approached as an exercise in refining the existing architecture rather than rebuilding it. With minimal civil intervention, the character of the home was transformed through a considered palette of deep tones, warm timber, textured surfaces and controlled detailing.
The spaces are designed to feel layered yet uncluttered, with strong architectural frames, integrated storage and display niches creating continuity across the home. Darker elements add depth and definition, while warmer materials and personal objects soften the overall palette.
A key part of the design was balancing the clients’ preference for a more traditional and expressive home with a contemporary, restrained approach. Traditional references are therefore not used literally, but are abstracted through material, proportion and detailing.
The result is an intimate, characterful home where architecture forms the backdrop and the family’s memories, objects and collections become part of the spatial narrative.
